How would we get those bills if it hadn't passed, though? The Republicans would have delivered their constituents everything they asked for (nothing!) and the Democrats would have to endure the meme that they "wasted a whole year on a healthcare bill that America rejected" (even though the first eight months of Obama's presidency were focused pretty soundly on the economy).
Now we've established that health care reform bills can be passed. The optimism and enthusiasm is important because the next step is showing that it's not political suicide for those who support it, which it will be if we don't get out the vote in November.
The other side is fired up. How do you win against that if you don't do the same?
