Announcing arrivals.
Jan. 2nd, 2009 02:03 pmJust a couple of quick notes before I forget: to the individuals who sent me the first two books of the Forever King trilogy, they arrived in good condition. And yes, I know there's a third book. I already have it, it was just waiting on its kindred. :) To Aiea, whose name I hope I got right, I did receive that gift certificate... the email notification never came but I can see the voucher in my PayPal account.
The WW2D? bracelets also arrived, and they look pretty good though I have to say for the next batch I'm going to be less ambitious in my color choices. The more common ones look a lot better than the exotic-sounding/looking ones. I guess there's a reason they're more common.
The lappy is still behaving itself under Ubuntu, though there have been some hiccups mostly brought on by conflicts between my expectations and its behavior. I've also spent some time trying to recover the passwords to all the various online services I use. Using a variety of them might make for better security, but it can be headache-inducing when you're changing computers. Thanks to everyone who's left hints and tips in my comments and email. Some of you were downright prescient about the problems I was likely to encounter in my adjustment.
