Meets and Greets, music and readings.
Mar. 2nd, 2009 12:07 pmSo, I'm going to be arriving in Chicago late in the afternoon of Wednesday, March 18th, preparatory to the Great Train Adventure the next day. The MU readers I know who will be on the train are going to be boarding in Memphis, but are any Chicago-area fans interested in doing a meet-and-greet? The adventure kick off concert is at 7, it's $10 to get in and it is open to the general public for anybody who wants to go, and there are a few hours in between my train arrival and that. There may also be additional meet/hang-out opportunities the next day as the train doesn't leave until the evening. I don't know the city at all, so anyone who wants to hang out and/or go to the concert, give a shout in the comments. Talk to me, talk amongst yourselves, etc.
And of course, the same is true at the other end of the journey: if you're in the New Orleans area, there is going to be a FABULOUS gala concert event on Saturday the 21st. Tickets for this are $30, and as the website explains: "This event will be semi-formal, semi-costumed, very kinky, and will feature musical performance by SJ Tucker, Betsy Tinney, and Michelle "Vixy" Dockrey, plus readings and theatrical presentations by Catherynne M. Valente, K' Wiley, and Lee Harrington, a masterful bondage and rope suspension artist." I will also be doing readings at some point before the main event. As with Chicago, I'm also open to just hanging out with folks who don't have money for/aren't interest in the concerts.
popelizbet and I are already conspiring to pillage the French Quarter for fantastic hats.
