First, let me say that I did not fail to notice that Tribe got more votes in my little reader survey than either Void Dogs or Star Harbor Nights. It seems like it's grown in popularity even while not being updated. I also haven't noticed the people who said they'd support it financially if given a Tribe-specific sponsorship option. I'd planned on bringing back 3 Seas before Tribe, but there's a definite interest gap there. So, I've been reading through the existing Tribe material, sketching out plots, and making plans.
The most people weighed quality as the most important, uh, quality for updates, and the most consistent complaint I hear is about consistency of schedule, so I'm going to try Tales of MU on a Monday-Wednesday-Friday schedule.
Yes, I've been sort of testing that this week. I didn't say anything because I wanted to see how it would affect a few things and didn't want to skew the results. One observation: I think the discussion on each of the two chapters I did so far this has been a little more in-depth for going on more than a single day. I also find that giving a day's break between each TOMU chapter gives me more time to gather my thoughts on it.
My plans right now for MOARMU is to do it Tuesday and Thursday. Void Dogs and Star Harbor will be Monday-Wednesday and Tuesday-Thursday. Friday will be the day I do intermittent stuff like Marnie Masterson or a short story. Tribe will be daily when it's being updated, but there may be gaps when one story finishes before the next begins. This could come up soon, since Arc 4 is already closer to the end than the beginning.
So, TOMU's coming up today. The rest of this schedule will be launched on Monday. That's two longer stories a day plus a Tribe update. I've been practicing this week on writing short-shorts (what are sometimes referred to as "drabbles" or "microfiction"... I used to do these to "warm up") and I'll be doing more of those and Ariella posts and things like that in my odd moments.
I'll post another... more fun-oriented... survey along with the MU chapter. I haven't figured out what all the choices for it will be, but I think some of you folks will find it entertaining.
Thank you to everybody who participated in the survey, whether through the actual LJ survey, through comments, or through email. It has been a heck of a week for email... I wasn't able to answer everybody, but I've enjoyed hearing from you, even the people I had to ultimately disagree with about things. I'm going to be tweaking the page layouts a little bit more as I update the Tribe sight to use the new layout, and one of the things I'm going to do is make the email address a little more prominent so I don't get a situation again where a few hundred readers notice it for the first time at the same time again.
