I've put the first practical item on my Amazon wishlist, a netbook like the one my mother lent to me for my New Orleans trip. While the keyboard was, as she put it, "large enough to be usable but small enough to be irritating", I did get used to it pretty quickly and it proved to be really handy on the trains. It was also small and light enough to be held at impromptu public readings, obviating the need for me to carry sheaves of printed material around.
Putting it on the wishlist makes sure I won't forget about it the next time I'm flush with cash and have $350 to spare on something useful but non-essential... but that time is likely to come after my next trip, to WisCon in May. In the meantime, it's up there.
