New For Today
Most significant piece of news is that tomorrow I'm flying back to Omaha for what will probably be a fairly extended stay... now that we have something of an endgame in sight for me actually moving here, conserving money seems more important than spending it just to visit.
It should be fairly relaxing for a travel day... I'm used to getting up at the ass end of the witching hour so we can drive to BWI for an early morning flight, but this time I've elected to fly out of the tiny Hagerstown regional airport to BWI, a fairly pleasant 30-40 minute flight on one of those little planes. It's an afternoon flight. This means I won't be getting into Omaha until near midnight, but it also means we can actually go out and do something on the last night and we have time for lunch together tomorrow.
I expect accelerated process on my momentum-building back in Omaha, because I have more space there and I've spent more time arranging things to be comfortable for working/writing. There are also things I need doing that I belatedly discovered I'd never copied to The Cloud™ before leaving for WisCon. So, yeah, I'm very much in a "go back to work" frame of mind.
State of the Me
Okay emotionally. I deal with these separations better than Jack does, I'm pretty sure. It's just a difference in how we're wired. I do miss him when we're not together, which is kind of a new thing for me, but I don't exactly... pine. And since I always visit him, me leaving means that I'm going back to things, while he's just watching me go.
Pretty okay physically. Kind of bracing for the environmental allergy crapshoot that comes from switching states... usually I have much worse sniffles and such in Nebraska than I do in Maryland, but this time going outside was like being hit in the nose with a sledgehammer made out of pollen (and yes, I have been here in the summer before). So I don't know if going back to Nebraska will be a relief or if it will be even worse.
Dreams From Last Night
I had to go out to a pond behind a house I was staying in to feed a cheeseburger to a duck, with an extra cheeseburger to tear up and throw to distract some pelicans who would otherwise have attacked me. The duck (actual duck, not cartoon/anthropomorphized) could talk and was complaining about how old he was getting and how cold the coming winter would be.
There were also some Half-Life 2 inspired sequences of riding a four-person dune buggy type vehicle through a cityscape infested with giant alien bugs.
Plans For Today
Finish the Tales of MU chapter I started in earnest yesterday.
