Fantasy In Miniature (Imaginary Internet Money)
Putting FIM stories up on Tumblr has already shown some modest success... each story so far has been getting more notes than the one before it. The reblogs, of course, are where the imaginary internet money is. Each reblog puts the story in front of more eyes, giving more people the chance to click on the source link or start following the blog.
I say "imaginary internet money" because this is a fairly low-return activity for me, albeit one that requires a low investment of time and energy. It's a way of building brand awareness, basically. Right now I'm tumbling a story every day, but 2/3rds of them are re-runs from the site (though new to most of the people seeing them on Tumblr). How much attention they garner will help me decide if it's worth devoting more time to flash as the well of old stories starts to dry up.
Tales of MU (Actual Internet Money)
So, I've decided to try a monthly sponsorship auction as the next step in my direct patronage experiments. I'll be starting that up later today or tomorrow (the announcement coinciding with the site update on whichever day.) It'll be a weekish-long auction, winner gets to have their name, link, and/or message (any or all of the three) up on the site in a prominent way for the month of December. Use it for advertising, a shout-out, bragging rights... whatever. This is an experiment, so I have no expectations at all about what this might go for.
If no one's particularly interested in it, someone might get to see their name go up for $10 or $20... of course, if no one's particularly interested than this might end up being a one-time deal. Or possibly two-time. Maybe seeing the results for a month and knowing that it came so cheap might incite more excitement the second time around.
STATE OF THE ME
Pretty good. Even without much in the way of a routine or sleep schedule while I'm here, I'm finding myself waking up at around 9:00 a.m. most days, which is pretty great. It'll make it easier to slip back into a routine when I get back to Omaha.
DREAMS FROM LAST NIGHT
Staying in a hotel staffed entirely by gym teachers from my school. Joy.
PLANS FOR TODAY
Got an Other Tales to write/post, and I'm going to actually get some serious writing done on the main Tales of MU story before the day it needs to be posted.
