/YEAR

So, I woke up this morning... or rather, this afternoon, because when you're sharing a house with like seven other people and a dog, the sleep schedule becomes subject to majority vote... and did an inventory of the hours it would take me to do justice to the KDR for this month.

In theory I spend time throughout a month on those, but in practice it's more like I spend the last week of the month on them. And you have some idea what this week has been like.

And I realized two things: one is that I would be spending all day on it, and two is that with the shape that I am in right now, the last thing I need is some white-knuckle deadline action. And that's the last thing the story needs, too. I'd probably be willing to kill myself delivering something awesome, but this would not be my best work... it would be my "get the dang thing done" work, which is the opposite of what my once-a-month limited series should be.

Then there's the fact that if I spent all day on this, I'd be posting close to midnight. On New Year's Eve. Yeah. All in all, it doesn't seem like it's worth the effort.

If I'd had any clue what the end of the month would be like in advance, I would have tried to schedule for it, but... eh. I'm not going to beat myself up over this. Better to just let the old year die as dignified a death as it can and get a good start on the next one.
