THE DAILY REPORT

Okay, we're getting "best-laid plans" territory here... I did not sleep at all last night, I'm talking full-on insomnia, and one of my housemates has informed me she will probably be staying home from work today. So this is like a textbook bad day.

That's not to say I'm throwing in the towel on it, or that I'm reducing my expectations. Instead, I'm removing expectations. I'm definitely going to focus on the next chapter of MU (after the one for tomorrow) rather than the next thing that falls due, precisely because I'll have more time to fix it if distraction or sleep deprivation takes a toll on the text. And also because it'll be the easier story to finish.

DREAMS FROM LAST NIGHT

You're joking, right?

PLANS FOR TODAY

Chances are excellent I'm going to crash at some point today, so I'm not planning on any writing beyond that one thing. And while my ~*ambitious plan*~ is to have it finished... I don't actually need it until Wednesday. If things go great I might also write a flash piece.

I have an alternate fall-back plan for if I feel all floaty and too out of it to do important work for my ongoing series but can't sleep, and that's to lean back and Just Write.

I did just post the flash story I wrote yesterday.

It's a state of affairs that will last less than 24 hours, but as of this minute I am two chapters ahead. This is pretty unprecedented. At ~2800 words, this is one of my least productive writing months this day days this month (note to self: read through draft of chapter 64 carefully before posting it), but that just shows how far I've come. A textbook "bad day for writing" is still... really quite good.
