The Daily Report

So, yesterday, I made a blog post on the Tales of MU site for the first time in more than a year, to get MU readers who aren't also following my blog into the loop on things. The double-whammy of warm weather and not enough sleep going into the weekend had a negative effect on my attempts to write the bonus story yesterday... I think the work I'm doing writing commentary on early chapters of MU actually helps me recognize when something I'm writing is coming out in a way that I might have reason to regret in the future.

We're still in the warm spell here, but I've got the windows open and fans going from the morning on, which should help keep things tolerable.

Tonight or possibly tomorrow morning, I am going to be posting the alpha version of the Basic Character Guide for testing and feedback. Feedback will be incorporated into the beta version, which is what will be used for actual gameplay testing later on.

My main task during the workday is to get the bonus story done and posted, especially given the fact that we're already "paid up" through the next one.

AWW: Character Creation Playtest, Take 1

So, at long last, the rough draft of the Basic Character Guide is ready for public consumption. The emphasis here is on "rough". This version does not yet incorporate examples, partly because I want to make sure that the rules I've written down mean the same thing to other people as they do to me and partly because the examples would all have to be changed if anything else changes.

To repeat what I've said before: anybody who wants to read this can read this, anybody who wants to participate in the test can do so by using these rules to make characters and then giving me feedback. This is not the rules of the game, and parts of it will be revised/rewritten
once the game rules have been finalized, but the basic process will remain the same, and will keep more or less the same parts.
