The Daily Report

My day of rest yesterday was pretty awesome. I ended the day writing a random thing, which is something I haven't done very much recently. I got out of the house in the evening and attempted to work on A Wilder World, but I ran into technical difficulties at the coffee shop.

The weather this week is still looking to be fairly mild compared to the past two weeks since I've been back, which is just awesome all around.

Pretty much everything is going well.

The Tales of MU Omnibus I has sold six copies on Amazon... not as huge a splash as when the first ebook came out, but honestly more than I expected in immediate sales. I kind of expect the Omnibus series to be more of a long-term thing. The main advantage of them is that they'll give people who aren't used to reading long stories in blog format a way to get into the story. I figured there might be the occasional existing reader who wants a way to take the archive with them offline, but six off the bat (seven, counting an epub sale) was more than I expected. And that's ~$25 in royalties. It won't arrive quickly enough to help with the move, but it'll come in handy when we're settling in.

None of this ebook stuff is anywhere near "big money" territory yet, but it's building towards something. My goal this year was to improve on my monthly average of about ~$10 in ebook royalties, and even if I don't have a single sale for the rest of the year (unlikely, since I'll have more e-books coming out next month) I've still at least doubled that. My goal for next year, the first full one after the move, is to see the sales climb into "real money" territory. (An intermediary stage between where we are now and "big money").

I started the converting/formatting for Omnibus II today. One of the great things about the Omnibus project is that it gives me a simple, easy-to-accomplish, but long and repetitive task I can use to start my day with to signal to my brain that yes, we're at work. Another great thing about it it is that it means about 90% of the formatting work for future individual e-books is done before I start them. When I finish the commentary for book 2 (this week!) and go to start on book 3, I can pretty much jump to the commentary phase.

The moving fundraiser's also going quite well. Only $167 to go, and with 16 days left after today, this puts us at the lowest dollars-per-day average needed to finish it out yet (around $10). A small number of larger donations would finish it out, or one person grabbing the last $200 naming perk.

The State of the Me

Doing well. Three nights in a row of beautiful sleep. Also, this morning I noticed that the tea I've been using since my favorite green tea with mint ran out is decaffeinated and switched to another kind. I expect this will make some difference in my day.

Plans For Today

Today's a posting day. I've also got some commentary to write.
