The Daily Report

Yesterday was an unexpected milestone day: the first day since I moved (and a good while before that) where I just sat down and wrote for several hours out of my head. It was one of those days where... well, let me put it this way. If I wanted to join NaNoWriMo today, I'd be on target for word count. Which isn't to say that I will. I wasn't planning on starting anything new in November, or really this year. There's too much unsettled, too much "old business" to clear up and clear out, and I can't count on kicking out seven days' worth of word count once a week.

Sometimes, though, you just have to move where the muse bites. And any writing is good practice for any writing. I've had to deal with people who don't understand that writing is not a manual job; no amount of sitting down in front of a keyboard and punching keys mechanically will produce a story. But the skill of being able to sit down and start putting words together... I mean, the actual physical job of writing... is a key component, and it can be harder than you'd think. Writers need to practice writing. Even if the thing I wrote doesn't go anywhere or turn into anything, it was still time well spent.

The State of the Me

Feeling pretty good? I've been sleeping well since my one night bout of insomnia. Yesterday I was still feeling shaky from the previous illness, and also had a bunch of running around to do.

Plans For Today

Today I have a moderate amount of running around to do, which is why I'm going to just say outright that Tales of MU will be coming up late at night instead of early evening instead of waiting to see if I can get it done before dinner. Next week I'm going to work on adapting my routine a little better to my new reality.
