So, one of the holy grails I've been chasing since I moved in to the house is getting my bedding in the back room so I'm sleeping and dressing there and working/playing/living in the front room.
The obstacle has been that when we moved my stuff in, we crammed it all into the back room. I've unpacked a lot of what can be unpacked and stored a lot of what can be stored (eventually, it's all going to be unpacked or disposed of... I'm past the point of my life where I want to hold on to stuff in case I maybe have a place for it later), but the rest of the house being as it is, there's a lot of stuff that's just in limbo. I had it all stacked in containers in a corner of the backroom... and that corner's where my bedding was destined for, for the same reason I was using it for storage (that is, it's not in the way of anything.)
I have managed to shrink the stuff in the corner to the point that it could go along the wall in my office (that is, the spot where I have been sleeping). The difficulty here is that I can't move the stack of containers and the bedding at the same time (or even either one of them all in one go) and there isn't a lot of places I can move one to so it'll be out of the way while I move the other.
So what I ended up doing was taking my bedding and piling it against the door, then moving the containers, then moving the bedding into the corner. Well, I say that in the past tense, but it's actually still ongoing. There is probably around fifty to sixty pounds of blankets and pillows, and I'm sure the containers weigh more than that in total.
If I would have planned one step ahead, I would have gone and gotten something to drink before I blocked the door. The front room has its own door to the hallway, but there's already some temporary storage stuff in front of it... before I moved in, it had been blocked off since the first time I visited, so I don't tend to think of it as a door. Once I get my containers into position along the wall, I'll probably put those boxes with them so I have two functioning doors.
Basically, I want to have only one part of my room that reflects the fact that I'm not fully settled in here. Long run, it'll be no part, but one part will be a start.
I'm not going to finish this tonight... there's a little table that's been by my sleeping area that I'm not going to move until tomorrow, which means I can't actually move the storage stuff to be along the wall (it's kind of hovering near that, in the space where my body would have occupied). Today was a pretty amazing day for me energy wise, but I don't have the spoons to do more. I just have the boxes out of the way and I will soon have all my bedding in place and that's good.
This should have a generally positive effect on my sleep, which should have a positive effect on my energy. I'm also one large step closer to having things in order, and visible progress is important.
