I've been more than a little daunted...
Apr. 9th, 2015 08:46 am...to be involved in Angels of the Meanwhile because it's really more ambitious than anything I've ever done before, even just as an e-book, with the minimal formatting that requires/allows for. It's ambitious not in terms of its size, but its scope.
When I first proposed the idea to Elizabeth, she was afraid it wouldn't go anywhere. I knew that it would, but I couldn't imagine how far it would go. I thought I might get a dozen pieces, probably mostly poems.
Well, there are more poems than straight prose in the slate I unveiled yesterday, but there's plenty of both. And the names. Ye gosh, the names.
(Contributing poet!) C.S.E. Cooney said this on Facebook about the importance of this project to her: "It is about community. It is about rescue. It is about giving back. And it's about poetry and prose and prose poems!"
That really says it all. These kinds of efforts, they are about community. Writing for and reading the same markets makes us colleagues, I guess. Talking to one another makes us acquaintances. Caring about each other makes us friends. Looking out for one another makes us a community.
Read the Table of Contents here, if you haven't. And get in on it below for whatever price you want to put.
