The Daily Report

Sorry for the radio silence yesterday... yesterday ended up being a rest and recovery day after two nights of heat-related sleep deprivation. I opened up a tab to make a status post, but I couldn't think of anything to say but "one more week until WisCon". Which would have been true, but a day-by-day countdown isn't very interesting.

The money stuff is coming along. I'm on track to have enough money for the con. I'm leaning towards aiming a bonus story for Memorial Day weekend, because otherwise I'm going to be paying my luggage fees out of my food/entertainment budget. If I were just going for the con I could do the one small suitcase thing, but I'm flying from Omaha to Madison and then from Madison to Maryland, so I need to bring everything I'll need for a month and a half, basically. I'm going to try to keep it down to one suitcase, though. That will mean making some hard choices when it comes to hats, but it'll save over $100 out of the trip expense (three flights at $35 a pop for the extra bag).

Halfway through the month of May, the pattern of one copy of the MU ebook selling for every two days is still holding. I kind of expected the trend to evaporate as soon as I noticed/commented on it, so whoo. Even if there were no more sales for the month, I'd still have handily beat my goal of getting more than $10 a month on Amazon this year.

Talking about trends: the bounce from the HPMOR plug is definitely subsiding, but it took longer and is happening slower than I'd expected, which is awesome.

The State of the Me

Talking about slow to subside, Tuesday's heat wave peaked higher than the forecasts suggested and the weather afterwards stayed warmer than those same forecasts predicted. I was impressed when my summerproofing of the attic kept it in the mid-80s on a day that was sunny and 101 degrees out, less so when it's in the mid-80s outside and also in the mid-80s in my attic. But even that's progress! It used to be that the sun would make the attic eight to thirteen degrees warmer than the ambient temperature.

Last night I got it down to 70, which was enough to sleep.
