You all remember when I said I was having problems with my email client not properly showing me all the emails it downloaded? I still don't know what exactly was causing it, but cleaning up all the accumulated crapware on my compy has rescued hundreds of email from limbo.

And that's not counting the spam that's in my main spam-catching address.

(Fortunately a lot of them are just Livejournal and Facebook notifications, though.)

So, in addition to all the email I haven't seen because my email-checkin'-computer was out of order, I also have older emails going all the way back to before my trip to New Orleans that I'm just now seeing.

Fun!

I suppose I'm going to set up some rules/filter-thingies to try to sort them into more manageable masses (in particular, to get the notices from PayPal about sponsors and such separated out where I can see them).

Computer Problems Suck

I was starting to wonder if you'd gotten my last e-mail to you. I figured you were just busy and I'd catch you here every so often.

Computer problems suck, no doubt about it. Misty and I just had to take out desktop back to Fry's to get a new CPU, new Motherboard, new Harddrive, and new RAM chips. (The only thing that's still original on this this is the tower case and the power supply for cryin' out loud!)Fortunetly the who thing was still under warranty so they replaced everything free of charge. (yay!) It still a pain in the butt having to reconstruct all my Internet Explorer bookmarks from memory though.

Anyway, it's good you've clear out the techno-gremlins.....for the time being anyway. Those little buggers always seem to sneak back in after awhile.

Possible email solution

Khersis, that's painful.

I see you're hosting your email at Dreamhost. Ever thought of switching to their dealie where you can basically get Gmail for your domain? You get to keep your address, but you use Gmail's servers, spam filter, and web interface (and/or the existing POP or IMAP mail client of your choice--which means you can download copies). You can also import your current mail to Gmail.

I switched my business over to this a few months ago, and it's saved me a ton of headaches. I was being too macho, doing the work of a sysadmin when I could outsource it for $10 a year. But I'm guessing you'll have no such temptations. :) Joe Bob says check it out.
