We just found our cat who's been missing for 4 days
on 2009-09-02 12:41 am (UTC)I love my cats, I truely do. But there are times when I could just as easily strangle the little furry critters for putting me through things like this.
Anyway, Luna is safe and sound, and now Sebastion is hiding. I just can't win!

on 2009-09-02 01:13 am (UTC)It breaks my heart when people lose their cats... the best you can hope for is that they found another home. One of ours, Zoe, was found wandering outside as a kitten by my roommate on her mail route... she checked with all the houses along the street and took her to the humane society, but nobody claimed her.

on 2009-09-02 04:02 am (UTC)Neither of them are terribly intelligent. Misty's old cat Terror (short for The Holy Terror, because he was the runt of the litter and would devore any food left out) was a smart cat. He'd come when you called him, he'd talk to you and let you know what he wanted. And he was a lap-cat. He sit on your lap while you were on the computer, or watching TV and was happy just to be there. I miss Terror, he was my buddy. He passed on nearly 7 or 8 years ago now. he was a huge, black American shorthair. Both Sebastion and Luna are little Hymalayan's. I wonder if that has something to do with the intelligence level?

on 2009-09-02 04:33 pm (UTC)I have 6 kittens in my house that have been brought to me by little kids (ages 5-8yrs old) who live near me. They seem to know I'm a sucker and can't let the kittens fend for themselves. If you look at my LJ, three kittens have recent posts of their own and the other three will also have their own posts soon as well. Two more already have homes, I am just waiting for them to be picked up. Hopefully soon!
The problem is that I need to find them homes and it's increasingly difficult to find them in MI. I'm doing my best for them but I am not in the best place financially and as they grow they're eating more, as they should, but it's becoming harder and harder to live while feeding them and my own cats.
Ideally, I'd like to get them a home where they would be fixed, indoor cats who are not declawed and are spoiled rotten little buggers.
I know you live off of donations yourself, but I was hoping you could see what your readers can do about getting homes for these little guys or possibly helping cover some of the food/litter costs for them till they get homes.
If you could help, I would be forever in your debt!!

on 2009-09-03 07:11 am (UTC)Make one unlocked post that sort of explains the relevant facts: where the kittens came from, the fact that you are not yourself keeping and breeding unfixed cats to produce them*, what (possible) veterinary issues any of them have, whereabouts you are (you don't need to post your street address in a public post or anything), the dearth of available spaces in local shelters, and your hopes for ideal placements, and contact info for interested persons.
Keep it somewhat succinct. It would be good to link to the "here are the pictures of them" post, but what you really need is one post that tells the facts in an easy to digest and straightforward manner. I got all the backstory by skimming your journal going back a couple months, but most of the people I might point your way won't wade that far.
The thing I *ed is important, as it will save you getting lectured when this hits the wilds of the internet.
If you do that, I'll link to it, flagging it to the attention of cat-lovers and Michigan ones in particular and ask that Michigan folks who can't otherwise help, help spread it around.
If you want to do something for me in exchange, please repost the shelter videos as public posts on your LJ, and encourage others to do the same.
Note: as of today, I'm going to be traveling for a bit. I don't get LJ comment notifications (health reasons!), my internet access is going to be sporadic, and I have some memory issues. I may not remember that you approached me about this. I will definitely not remember to follow up. When you've got a linkable post made, remind me in a comment on whatever my latest blog post is at the time.
