THE DAILY REPORT

So, yesterday I wrote 5,000 words during the workday. Jack went to bed somewhat early and I wrote another 2,000 words after that. About two thousand words of that was part of the KDR chapter I posted. The other 5,000 were of a new story. I think it's going to be my next thing I work on an hour or so each day, and unlike the last one of those it should be marketable, though it's still fairly specific in its appeal. I'll have more to say about it when it's farther along. Depending on how it shakes out, it might be something for Forbidden Fiction.

I'm missing some parts of my work on Dangerous Instrumentality that I think were done in October, which means they're probably on my laptop, which I don't use very often now because of its unreliability. One of my tasks for today is going to be to get all the fragments together in the cloud (somehow uniting fragments in a cloud makes me feel like I'm playing a Kirby game or something) so I can proceed the story. I wrote a bit on it last week but without having the other parts I'm just making the thing more fragmented when I should be stitching it together.

While going through the things I need to do today I keep thinking that I'm fairly sure there are things that last week I realized I should have done right after my office day that I forgot about during it, which I'm not remembering yet today. Oh, well. If that happens again this week I'll start writing down my list beforehand, as things come to me.

One of my tasks for today is the publication of the erotica piece I shared in the last newsletter as "Kitty". I'm not settled on that as the final title. I'd planned on breaking into Smashwords this week but I'm feeling a bit foggy and they have a rather lengthy style guide so I think I'm going to make learning their system this week's goal and actually putting stuff up on their site something for next week. I don't like doing new things when I'm foggy, it ratchets my anxiety through the roof.

STATE OF THE ME

Slept well, but like I said, foggy. It happens.

DREAMS FROM LAST NIGHT

None distinct.

PLANS FOR TODAY

I'm going to make a task list post here in a bit.

I ended up doing the first thing on my task list before writing said list, because it was taking a while for my brain to wake up and I didn't want to waste the morning. I've just submitted the pet girl story to Amazon as Kitty: Caged Love. Earlier I wasn't sure if it was going to turn into the first couple of chapters of a novel or stand on its own. My attempts to carry the story further didn't go anywhere, so I figure the title/sub-title thing is a good way to leave it open for revisiting in the future.

At a bit over 6,000 words the story would work out to twenty-five standard 250 word pages in standard print format. I'd call that a novelette. The actual number of pages will depend on how your e-reader settings are.

I'm pricing it at $2.99, which is more than I'd normally price something that size for, but this falls under the heading of "The Internet Is For Porn." Even though Tales of MU can go (and has gone) months without a sexual encounter, the fact that it includes sex means I'm considered by a lot of people to be an erotica writer. Might as well get paid for it, right?

No link for it yet, as it takes a while for Amazon to review and post things.

On the subject of reviews, there are four stories on my Amazon author page that don't have any. If you've ever said you'd like to do something to support me but you don't feel you have enough money to make it worthwhile... spending a dollar on one of those stories and giving it a positive review would be very helpful.

I mean, don't lie. If you hate one of my stories and you want to help me, please either don't review that one or write a review explaining why this story wasn't for you. Not "this story sucked!" but "I prefer stories that do ______ while this one did _______." That's more helpful for everybody. But if you feel bad about writing a negative review and really feel like doing me a favor, wait until there are positive reviews there first.

I'm not a fan of the averaged-star system of reviews, but I like the idea of being able to see what people who did or didn't like a story did or didn't like about it.

Anyway, I'll have the link for Love Caged later today or tomorrow. Now on to the task list.
