The Daily Report

So, I've been late going to sleep for the past several days and today I woke up at just after 10. My target has been to be vertical by 10, but today that wasn't happening. Today's a publication day, though, so I had a conversation with my imaginary office manager that concluded with me sleeping in until eleven but the first thing I would do when I got on my computer was write.

When I did wake up at eleven, I remembered that conversation and decided to do one better. I already had my phone in my hand (because it's my alarm clock) so I slid the keyboard out and opened up Google Drive. I did half an hour there. I can't get a word count on my phone but I knew approximately how many words were in the chapter (~not enough) and so I know I got ~300 words in that half hour, which is good to know because I've never done any kind of a time test on the phone.

I've only had a phone with a keyboard again for a few months now... I think I got in July, so a bit over two months, but after more than a year without such a thing it's taken me a while to wake up to the possibilities again.

The State of the Me

The sleep thing is worth noting, but for the most part I have been getting enough sleep. The timetable has just been uncooperative.

Now, here's an interesting thing: even though my sleep schedule has been off and I'm down an hour or two of sleep, I have had a lot less craving for/interest in caffeine. Very interesting. Not completely sure what it's about. My caffeine intake has been generally trending downwards over the years but mostly when my sleep gets disrupted is when it shoots back up.

Plans For Today

Finish/post next chapter of TOMU. It needs a lot more writing, but it's... okay, I can't always tell when a chapter is not going to come together, but sometimes there's a clear path and I can see the end from the beginning. This is one of those times. Zero worries.

I think my cat is becoming less co-dependent.

Normally he tries to follow me around the house when I'm home and gets despondent and frightened when I'm gone for long periods of time. Just lately he's been getting bored with staying in the bathroom while I'm taking a bath, and last night he started chilling downstairs on the couch while I was upstairs. I thought he was just hiding somewhere up here, but I went downstairs and there he was, and he showed no inclination of following me back up. He did eventually come upstairs after I went to bed, but this morning he went downstairs and hit the couch immediately after I got up. He's been up and down a few times since.

This is literally something that's never happened before. I take it as a promising sign. I love him dearly, but it's not always convenient to have him hovering.
