Yesterday I saw a thing on the internet about flow (if you're seeing this on a crosspost that strips out links, look up "flow (psychology)" on Wikipedia, a concept that neatly encapsulates a lot of what I try to achieve in my work (and more generally, in my life)... a more positive form of the hyperfocus I sometimes (often) fall into. You who read this know that I'm all about trying to isolate the processes that let me really get into the zone when it comes to work.
Writing as an activity isn't necessarily easily conducive to the type of flow that they're talking about because there isn't always a clear way forward. But it happens. I think more useful on a day-to-day basis, though, is the use of other activities to produce flow for the positive mental/emotional benefits it brings.
The State of the Me
Woke up with a scratchy throat. I think it's due to irritation rather than illness (since shortly after I woke up, I managed to cough up a little wad of cotton that I'd somehow inhaled in the night off one of my blankets), but I'll be keeping an eye on it.
Plans For Today
We're on day 2, major writing day. I'm also going to be doing a little cleaning and re-arranging of my rooms today, since I fell behind on my housekeeping a bit while finishing up the move. I got some extension cords that have been needed before we can move certain things into their final positions... one downside of this house is that outlets are in short supply compared to a newer one, and they're often inconveniently placed.
