The Daily Report

Tales of MU Omnibus V has now gone up in the Kindle store ( http://www.amazon.com/dp/B00MH28GHS ) as well as being available in the multiformat bundle directly from me ( https://sellfy.com/p/1ff5/ ).

It's always a mistake to try to extrapolate a trend for the month by doing things like taking three days' worth of sales and multiplying it by ten or 5 days by six, but when you have what could be a sales spike or could be a trend at the start of a month, it's still fun to assume it's a trend. This month I had somewhere between $40-60 net sales before the new book went up... I really feel like I'm hitting the magical tipping point on my e-book library where growth is begetting growth.

Also, I'd assumed the Omnibus project would mostly be of interest to people who were already readers, but anecdotal responses suggest that people who've been curious about the series but aren't interested in reading long works off a website have been picking them up, and some existing readers have used them to hook their friends' interest. If those things turn into trends, it will be nothing but good.

Balancing out my optimism at increasing book revenue: this seems to be the month where Patreon is randomly reminding me that they say payment will be made "before the 15th of the month" rather than "at the start of the month". I've been counting on that to pay my phone bill, and I'm starting to get nervous about whether they'll pay out before I get cut off.

I don't want to blame Patreon too much. It's a very useful system and I assume the randomness of the payout time has a lot to do with the logistics of processing all the patron pledges first and then doing a single payout to the creator. The real problem is being so month-to-month that these fluctuations can throw everything off. In the long-term, increasing e-book store sales and more Patreon pledges will help prevent this.

Short-term, I have to lean on direct e-book sales and reader support more than I like.

The State of the Me

Doing okay.

Plans For Today

I'm into my last two days before traveling, so I've got some things to do to get ready for that. I'm also near the end of a week with no new book conversion... if things get down to the wire and I haven't managed it, I'll say that the completely new Omnibus V counts, even though I wasn't intending to count that. But today I'm going to try one more tack with getting Omnibus III up in the Nook store, and then take another look at KoBo if that fails.

This afternoon I'll be writing another chapter of Tales of MU, and posting today's.
