Trying to balance family time/relaxation/enjoying the sights and experiences of Florida/work is really a bit more challenging than I'd envisioned. I've got some reading done, but not much. Some writing done, but not much. Some non-writing work done, but not much. I'm having a great time and I suspect that ultimately this will do much to recharge my creative batteries, but physically, I'm kind of up and down. My sleep schedule is not. My energy level is peaking and crashing. I feel too tired to finish writing and I go lie down, but then I wake up full of undirected nervous energy.
Part of it, I think, is where Tales of MU is, plot-wise and emotion-wise. I think maybe I should not be afraid to "schedule" time off following the conclusion of an arc in the future, especially as I'm going to be going for more conclusiony/arcy stuff in Volume 2. I did that when I was writing the individual books of the first volume, before I stopped splitting them... take some time to come down and plot out what's happening. I think I need to do that again.
Personal Assessment
See above, I suppose. Sleep's not great but not terrible. I'm not sick. I'm a little run down, but not too much.
Dreams From Last Night
This is actually from two nights ago. I had a kind of epic dream that was sort of a mash-up of Quake (the first one) and Batman: Arkham Asylum, along with a roleplaying-themed board game. I mean, there were very Quake-like weapons and action but the setting was like an outdoor area of Batman: Arkham Asylum, but I and everybody else in the dream were game pieces that were fantasy character classes or creatures. I in particular was a venemous snake made out of pewter. And movement involved rolling dice, but none of the dice were actually dice. There was somebody who had to roll three little giraffe statues everytime he moved. They weren't remotely dice shaped, but somehow they ended up landing on one of six sides cleanly every time, with dots that were only really visible on that side.
My die was myself, my pewter snake body. The numbers were hard to read. If I rolled a five or higher I got to draw a venom card that could be used to do various things with snake venom. I was very slow because I only had one movement die (the person who rolled giraffes had three of them) but my venom was very important.
Plans For The Immediate Future
Tonight? I kind of need a nap. There's a debate in my head as to whether I should do the next MU chapter or the Little Aidan chapter next. When I wake up I'll write whichever one is stronger in my head.
