Cool store in Omaha.
Feb. 28th, 2011 03:26 pmToday is a kind of weird day, as my housemate has moved herself to a night time sleeping schedule in anticipation of a daytime working schedule, but she's still on the "weekend" of her old schedule today so she's awake and home during the day today. We ran out for lunch and ended up doing some shopping/errands... I got some footstools (feetstool?) that I've sorely needed since my knees went wonky on me, and while investigating the shattered ruins of the Crossroads Mall we discovered an awesome costume store. It's kind of weird to come across a costume store in a mall outside the Season of the Witch, but there it was: Fairytail Costumes.
They sell some new and packaged items, but much of the floor space and shelf space is given over to secondhand items... imagine a thrift store where instead of picking among the polo shirts and such to find the stuff you need to complete your steampunk/faerie/mythpunk/whatever ensemble, it's all that stuff. Basically, they go around buying that sort of stuff and turn around and sell it at surprisingly reasonable prices.
Sadly, their web presence at the moment sort of... isn't. I mean, they're a family-run business and apparently there isn't anyone with the webernet skills. But they do have a Facebook page that has their location and hours and such. Omaha folks, check them out.
