Well, that's finished...

I had planned on launching Volume 2 on April 1st for irony-related reasons, but given that it took me well into Thursday to finish this and I don't think my flip-flopping sleep schedule's going to stabilize in the next 48 hours I think Monday's the better bet.

In the meantime have some teasers for Volume 2, under the cut.

  • The "Arch"... the Archimedes Center for Student Living... is an addition to the campus by a philanthropic elven former student who was the first elf to graduate from MU and is disgusted by the current wild state of the elven student body. He partnered with a dwarf clan to design and build a new building that's integrated into the main campus that's intended to draw the relatively large elven and dwarven populations out of their enclaves and into campus life, with a broader mandate of fostering a sense of community among all students.
  • Nae is going to (re-)enroll in MU. She'll be something of both a foil for Shiel and a companion to her.
  • Stone soldiers become bigger than ever.
  • ONE OF THESE PEOPLE IS GOING TO DIE! Oh, wait, you can't see whose pictures I'm holding up.
  • Feejee faces a conundrum: maintain a double life as both student and sea monster for the next three years, or choose to remain as one or the other, living her life on land or returning to the sea forever.

I am blanking as to who Nae is... I checked to make sure it wasn't one of the Fifth Floor Girls, but I don't know where else to look. Was this in one of the Other Tails?

She's the kobold girlfriend/sub/slave of Caron (the dwarf who runs the body mod shop in the underground).

Feejee

I hope Feejee decides to stay at MU. She's one of the more unusual characters, and the mix would be poorer without her. After all, how many aquatic human-eating monsters would you expect to find at a school that's far inland?

Maybe she can be the one that makes a lot of good human connections, and becomes the channel that builds understanding between her kind and humanity.

If I remember correctly, wasn't Iona from deep sea and Feejee from closer to the shore? I alway seemed to think that because Iona was from deeper in the oceans and farther away from the society of land-walkers that she was the more monstrous of the two. Feejee seemed to see humanity (and other races topside) as interesting playthings more than food. I think there's still hope for her.

That's actually backwards. Iona was the "shorebird" and Feejee's from the deep.

Huzzah! The Archimedes Center makes its debut!

And congratulations on bringing part one to a satisfying close.
