Perspective: I iz acquiring it.
Aug. 11th, 2011 04:26 pmI'm pretty sure I'm going to have this chapter wrapped up tomorrow. After that, next week? I'm not going to make two regular chapters a priority. I'm going to shift gears and do the side story and the bonus stories. I always backburner those things when the main story is coming hard and going slow, and this is a mistake because part of their purpose in my life is to give me a way of jumping off the path I'm in when I'm stuck in a rut.
I backburner them out of guilt, because trying to do "extra" when I'm not meeting my main obligation seems like a dodge... but of course it's better to produce something than nothing, and some people genuinely prefer the other stories set in the world to Mackenzie's.
And right now? To be honest, the parallels between Mackenzie and myself have never been more sharply thrown into relief. I'm not about to quit or abandon her story, but constantly forcibly immersing myself in her viewpoint/world when I'm dealing with this stuff just isn't good.
I need to come up for air.
So next week, I've got the Thylean class discussion chapter to do and that will be a breath of fresh air all itself. Even though the story's nominally from Mackenzie's point of view, it's really going to be Aaron Hart's show, and "he" has been excited about this topic for months of real time. So I'm going to do that and tackle some things happening elseverse and basically have a week of writing that doesn't really involve Mackenzie much at all.
Could be just what I need.
