Mute witness.
Aug. 15th, 2011 06:40 pmSo, I've been having this issue where my screen has been making a lot of white noise... I use an LCD TV as my screen on my "personal" computer, which is also where I do my recording. The noise hasn't been noticeable most of the time, but that's because I've had A/C and fans going all summer. When I kill the other noise sources, though, it comes through loud and clear... loud enough to be very noticeable on my recordings.
(One reason why my test one was so quiet was I had the mic volume down to make it less noticeable.)
I've been trying to work around it in various ways, and it just occurred to me to try the most obvious solution: get the TV's remote and hit "mute". Worked like a charm. I suppose maybe when it's set to PC input, it expects there to be audio feeding into it as well? Regardless, problem solved.
