Nothing to report, really. I feel like I'm building up steam, though.
State of the Me
Okay. Sleep came late, but it did come. No physical complaints. Already feel sharper than I did yesterday, where I never properly woke up.
Dreams From Last Night
A nightmare of the "naked in school" anxiety variety, I think, though expressed in different ways.
I went to a family wedding with my immediate family up in the mountains (this part is Based On Actual Events, from a few years ago.) But at the time to go, I had forgotten to pack so I had to run back down to my house (which was just up the street from my family's house, in the dream) and my mother didn't understand why I needed to and I said that I didn't have anything to wear. Her response was it was "just overnight" and did I really "need a bag", and I had to tell her that I couldn't wear what I was wearing (my pajamas) for the wedding.
(Note: That bit is pure dream logic nonsense, not a conversation that would have or could have happened in real life.)
When we got up to the mountains, I discovered I'd been so upset about the argument that when I was at my house I forgot to pack anything at all, but there was time to fix it because there was time to go shopping before the wedding.
One of the first shops I visited was a little vintage clothing store where I bought a hat. The owner was nice and seemed to be happy to have sold the hat, a leather fedora, for $22. There's nothing I can use for the wedding there, but I lead a group of relatives/friends back there later in the day because it's a neat store. At the last minute... after having walked into the store but before seeing or talking to the owner... I decide to grab the fedora out of the car to wear it, so he'll remember me. After I get inside one of my cousins points out the price tag is still hanging off of it so I pull it off.
When I greet the owner, it's clear he doesn't remember me... and then it becomes increasingly and horrifyingly clear that he thinks I'm wearing the hat because I'm interested in buying it. I tell him that I already bought it, and he says he doesn't remember that. He checks his security camera and the only thing it shows is me ripping the tag off. It doesn't show the bare spot on the wall where it was or me coming and going. I can't convince the guy to back it up to the morning when I was there before.
He tells me I'm lying because he would never have sold the hat for $22, it's worth hundreds of dollars. I show him the price tag and he says it came from something else. I go out to the car to get the handwritten receipt, which just looks like scribbles to me but I assumed he'd be able to make it out... but he can't and he says it proves I bought something from him but it "could be anything". When I woke up, he'd just called the police and the local news, so they could do a segment on the new scam people are trying where they take something from your store and say they already bought it.
