Aug. 26th, 2011 06:08 pmNews For The Day
My schedule is very off right now, but that's okay. Through various stances, both circum- and happen-, I'm pretty much "free" this weekend... Jack is off having magical adventures (too far inland, I hope, for hurricanes to tread) in celebration of Sarah's birthday for the weekend, so I don't have to figure out how to juggle the biggest part of my e-social life with my e-work and analog-sleep.
In point of fact I've been spending most of the day AFK, mastering the art of Kindle-writing. I've discovered the actual limit of a document in my notepad app (3600 characters), and noted that it gets slower and more likely to crash as I approach 3000. These are limits I can work in. I hadn't planned on writing any full finished chapters on it, and when I'm writing starter fragments and little snippets of dialogue, having them chunked up in different files makes things easier anyway.
Of course, the fun part is editing them together and filling in the blanks between them. But even with that, this is great. I'm going to have to adjust my productivity tracking methods, but productivity is definitely going up.
In "Future News": So, this past weekend I wrote the first part of a long-promised Laurel Anne Blaise story. This weekend (probably for Monday publication, again) I'm going to be finishing up the equally long-delayed Kin and Distant Relations debut. After that I'm going to be doing part two of LAB, and I'm going to alternate weeks between that and other similar things on the To-Do pile. I'm thinking there will be three or four parts to Laurel's story, but it could surprise me by wrapping up in 2 or 5. I'm not going to force anything either way there. The monthly installment of K&DR will fit into that schedule.
State of the Me
The part about my schedule being off is pretty much the headline there.
Dreams From Last Night
I don't even remember, but I woke up with this creepy haunting, teasing sing-song "na na na na na na" song in my head and the weird thing is I think it's an actual song, maybe something that's popped up on Pandora's new age or atmospheric channels. Whatever it was, it gave me the creeps big time.
Plans For Today
Already well in progress. Chapter 27 is going to go up some time tonight. Final wordcount is going to be pretty high.
