The Daily Report
My apologies for the lack of blog posts, but I spent most of the weekend AFK.
I'm continuing to discover new problems with my laptop. There's a wonky USB port that makes the whole computer lock up (no input is registered, mouse pointer won't even move) if something is put into it and jiggled just right/wrong. The fan often fails to turn on. The trackpad and mouse buttons progressively stop responding as it heats up. I used this computer intermittently in Omaha, but this is the first time it's been my primary computer since early July.
I'm hoping that it will remain usable through the end of the year. If it conks out completely before I go back to Omaha I'll just have to borrow time on other peoples' computers for a while. If it conks out after that... well, that's less of an issue since I figured out how to turn my desktop setup into a comfortable writing station. It's better when I can go sit on the stairs or whatever quiet corner is tugging at my muse, but I've been doing most of my writing on the desktop since I got the reclining chair for it.
The end of this week is going to be another crunch-tastic one, with a regular chapter and K&DR both falling due on the 28th and a newsletter on the 30th. As I consider that, I'm thinking about making the first mid-month calendar correction of October and pushing K&DR back to the 29th. I think I will probably do that. I don't like having an arbitrary deviation from the predictable progression of updates in a month, but K&DR is already "special" and that's the only time that two major updates fall due at the same time.
I may try bringing them both in on the 28th and see how it goes. If I have to push K&DR back a day at the last minute, readers "tuning in" on Friday will still have something new to read, and whether I do or not I'll have a clearer idea of the pros and cons.
State of the Me
Sleeping very soundly. No real complaints.
Dreams From Last Night
Involved foxes jumping on trampolines.
Plans For Today
Got a chapter to finish writing and post. I'm still doing the skin of my teeth thing on the schedule, but I am still getting by.
