THE DAILY REPORT

Personal Stuff

This is my last week here for a while. Jack was not having a great day yesterday, so I introduced him to Terraria to distract him a little. I think it worked. I'm not sure what time he finally went to bed last night.

I'll resume stuff like the character Formspring and the vocal tracks once I'm back in Omaha next week. For now I'm doing a kind of barebones thing, to maximize my time just hanging out with Jack and Sarah. I hope everyone understands that. I'll also start keeping up with my flists again. I'm really behind in terms of keeping up with what people have been doing and such.

Professional Stuff

I am shifting the OT schedule like I discussed earlier in the month, so the third one of the month (which may or may not also be about dragons) is going to be on the 22nd. I'll adjust the schedule on the Tales of MU website when my connection is less persnickety or I feel like moving to a better computer.

Today is a newsletter day. It is also, not coincidentally, the day I'm going to kick off the auction for the first site-wide sponsor thing... the idea is the newsletter readers get first notification, then I can attach another notice to tomorrow's Tales of MU chapter. Obviously the blog readers here know ahead of everybody else, as is often the case.

On a related subject (i.e., the need for me to make more money), I'm going to be playing with the advertising on the Tales of MU site. Don't worry, I'm not adding a ton more... in fact, I'm going to be removing some. To be specific, I'm going to be removing one ad box from the top Project Wonderful slot and one from the bottom. I'm pretty sure that will serve to bump the price of the small boxes up by 10 cents a day each. I'm not sure what it will do to the big boxes. I like the big boxes for giving people a larger canvas to work with, but it's just not paying off. I believe it's a matter of fewer people looking for advertising in that format through the PW network, because fewer sites offer it. If reducing the slots doesn't change that, then I'll probably replace it with a more traditional banner.

I don't usually make these decisions based on maximizing revenue, because for me the biggest plus of the PW ads has always been the way they let other independent creators piggyback on my site without me having to actively promote them, but I really do need to bring my monthly income up. If I can consistently keep it north of a dollar a day, that will help.

STATE OF THE ME

Doing okay.

DREAMS FROM LAST NIGHT
