Personal
Jack and I have what is currently a long-distance relationship, and email is a big part of how we keep the relationship "close" even across long distances. There's a perception that email leads to cold, terse communication, but it's a writing medium. One can write a brief and distant letter as easily as a brief and distant email, and warmth and depth is likewise equally possible in both media.
But there's a thing that tends to happen when I visit him and then come back where the habit of sending email is broken by the visit and it takes a while to rebuild. It's happened enough times for there to be a pattern, and astonishingly, for me to recognize it. So I've been making sure to take the time to email him yesterday and today.
(Why am I telling you this? Because this is how I remember things.)
Work
Today is my first day home alone anywhere in a long time, and the first major writing day back in Omaha. I did do a bit of additional writing on chapter 47 Sunday night and was pleased to find it pretty easy to slip back into the groove. I'm still taking an "ease into it" approach, because I tend to run until I hit a wall when I don't, and because there's no sense in trying to build a bunch of momentum today and tomorrow when tomorrow night is the start of my family's extended Thanksgiving funstravaganza.
STATE OF THE ME
In some ways, my body is still adjusted to the rhythms of life in the apartment in Hagerstown, but the only current complaint is a tendency to wake up briefly in the early morning hours in response to alarms that are no longer going off in my earshot, and that's not a huge problem.
DREAMS FROM LAST NIGHT
See previous.
PLANS FOR TODAY
Main thing: do third and final (for now) dragon-gossip story. Today is day 2 of the main chapter cycle, which is "take a stab at beginning it day"... I actually already have some material for the chapter, but I'm going to spend some time playing around with it.
