My financial outlook has improved over the course of the fall, but my current bill-paying arrangements are leaving me with more of a financial crunch than I like at the start/end of the month. I have a bit more breathing room in the next several months to put into effect some of myharebrained schemes revenue-increasing measures from last spring that have been delayed or derailed. I'm especially looking forward to publishing more short stories and novellas, and getting them onto more platforms. It's a small source of income at the moment, but one that has potential to grow.
On a related subject, after the end of the year I'm going to be raising the minimum price on The Gift of the Bad Guy to $1.99... this decision is less about the extra 35-95 cents this will get me per individual sale and more about drawing a dividing line between short stories of a few thousand words and a hundred page novella. This is coming off the pricing conversation that was going on around the time the novella debuted. I think 99 cents would be a great price for short stories to end up at in the age of the iArt, and I want to do what I can to help make that stick.
I don't have anything huge on tap for December. My big initiative in the coming month is going to be entirely behind the scenes and involve my monthly writing timeline. But to try to boost my income a little, I am going to make a moderate push on the newsletter. More on that tomorrow.
On the subject of the newsletter and tomorrow: the newsletter will be coming out tomorrow. My spacing out the Other Tales schedule made Kin and Distant Relations day fall on newsletter day half of the year, which is not good... I'm going to make the newsletter fall on the day after the 30th.
(February continues to insist on being difficult.)
The newsletter highlights this time will include some actual progress on Dangerous Instrumentality, the debut of an online drafts folder where you can look at my drafts of the same online, some unseen drafts of MU material for recent chapters, and some meditations on Nicki... where she came from, where she's going.
