Jan. 25th, 2012 09:10 amTHE DAILY REPORT
So, yesterday I wrote over 9,000 words, well over half of which were usable or what I'd call "keepers" (the fact that ~4,200 hundred of them were a MU chapter helps there.) I'd say things are going pretty good.
The thing I'm realizing more and more is that I suck at networking and I'm not a great businesswoman. These things will always be true. But my dream was never to be a business or a brand, it was to be a writer. I don't want to knock the usefulness of branding or networking, but at the end of the day you've got to go with what works for you. When I focus on writing I can produce stories in sufficient quantity and quality to be a brand.
That's not to say I'm going to be completely unfocused. First week of February I'm going to come up with a plan based on how things have gone this month.
Today's my first office day. I've got some things in mind that need doing, but no real idea how long they'll take or what they'll take out of me, spoon-wise and focus-wise. So I'll be setting the agenda as I go.
THE STATE OF THE ME
Okay. Sleep was a little iffy last night but I was down for eight hours.
PLANS FOR TODAY
I'm going to start with three agenda items: Set up Amazon Author Page, spend an hour tagging and de-typoing MU volume 2 chapters, and format "A Matter of Appearances" for Kindle Desktop Publishing.
