Last Sunday I had a bunch of running around and stuff to do. This Sunday I've got nothing, but my brain still has "Oh my gosh I have so much to do" filed under Sunday. It's kind of disconcerting.
I'm working on A Wilder World today. Specifically, I'm creating a playtest document which contains a "light" version of the rules and is aimed at experienced gamers. It focuses on the concepts needed to play the game, rather than what you need to run it or create characters. The purpose of what I'm terming Playtest Document A (because the world needs more PDA) is to allow me to run some initial test sessions using pregen characters, so I can see if there are any big holes in the rules I'm not seeing, any thing in the math that doesn't work out the way I think it does, and if the rules make sense.
I'll make an expanded playtest document based on that which will include instructions for the GM side and some "delve" type scenarios to run. I'll release these to people who volunteer to playtest along with some prefabricated characters. That's phase two of playtesting: making sure the system makes enough sense to work with other people running it.
Once that's in place, phase three is obviously to put out a version with character generation and let people go nuts. Everything could go fine in the first two phases and then fall completely apart here, of course. That's why the preceding two phases wouldn't involve player-created characters... so I know if problems are with the engine, or with bad combinations/poorly designed pieces of the character creation system.
That wouldn't be the end of playtesting, though... in fact, it would only be the end of the pre-production phase.
No ETA on any of this, since in all my time as a gaming hobbyist I've never attempted something like this. I'd say the first phase of playtesting will probably be "soon", but I won't need many people for that.
STATE OF THE ME
Doing okay!
DREAMS FROM LAST NIGHT
Many and very confusion. At one point I was involved in a court case being heard in the basement of an old apartment building, and one of the witnesses was dead, but the Ghostbusters had his spirit in their containment unit and they were able to set up a portable containment field so the ghost could be questioned. Unfortunately due to a wacky mix-up they brought the angry spirit of a serial killer and nobody seemed to understand the mix-up except for me.
PLANS FOR TODAY
See above. Working on the playtest document.
