End of day wrap-up.
Feb. 2nd, 2012 06:44 pmSo, final word count today is 3,800. I have a chapter of Tales of MU that's not quite finished... it doesn't have an ending yet, but it has a strong theme running through it and that's what really makes for a good chapter, in my opinion. The ending will come naturally if the chapter has a recognizable arc. I could probably finish it tonight if I put another half hour into it, but I've been knocking off at 6:30 almost every day and I kind of like that.
Jack and I are still in a long-distance relationship and I like to be available for him at regular times. It just seems to work better that way... or at least I feel better that way. We have plans to see each other again in the summer, starting with WisCon. We have our memberships and we have the hotel room lined up. The money's going to be tight but we're committed to making it.
I might do a con-specific fundraising effort if it looks like things won't work out without one, but I have some leeway in that I have Christmas money that I had originally earmarked for a new portable writing-and-interneting solution. My netbook has been holding on better than I thought it would, though I've also hardly been using it. Ideally it should probably be replaced before I'm traveling again, but if the money comes down to traveling and making do with what I have or not traveling because I spent the money on a travel computer... well, that's clearly no contest, right?
I'm feeling pretty good about ending the week if not two full chapters ahead than at least pretty close. The chapter I'm going to be starting tomorrow is slated for Wednesday. My goal next week is going to be to build up/maintain this being ahead thing.
