THE DAILY REPORT

I'd like to wish everybody who observes it a happy Valentine's Day, and to everybody else a verry happy feast of Saint Tuesday. If you're a big sappy believer in true love with a few bucks to spare, this would be an excellent time to think about throwing something into the jar for my travel fund, which is going to pay for my trip to see Jack in May and June. If you're not, then you can think of it as the Hey Get A Room fund, because at this point it's pretty much paying for our hotel room at WisCon.

The other day I found out how useful Chrome's "pinned tabs" feature is, and yesterday I really took advantage of it for the first time. A side effect of this is that I didn't go on Tumblr all day... I'm kind of an out of sight, out of mind person that way. A side effect of that is that I realized how much of my time Tumblr had been taking up. My timer-sprinting meant that wasn't necessarily keeping me from writing, but I know there were times when I got so caught up with keeping up with Tumblr that I reset the timer for another ten minutes off. That's probably got something to do with the fact that I've "only" been writing 2,000-4,000 words a day instead of my peaks in January. I mean, there are always going to be short days and long days, and even my short days are fairly awesome now, but they've been staying mostly short.

So I'm thinking of a Tumblr hiatus for a while, for about the next month... specifically, until my beginning-of-March visit to my parents is over, I won't be spending as much time in front of the computer then anyway. When the hiatus is over, I'll try to ease back into it on a more reasonable basis.

I still think Tumblr's incredible, I've just been letting it take over a big part of my life. I don't want it to become what chatrooms were to me for the first decade of my online life.

STATE OF THE ME

Feeling pretty good. Yesterday was fairly draining, but I laid down at a reasonable hour and slept fairly well. Today I have to take delivery of a new fridge for my housemate, but that's supposed to be done in the morning and so it shouldn't disrupt my day too badly, I hope.

DREAMS FROM LAST NIGHT

I read some Discworld before going to sleep, and as a result my dreams in the first half of the night were narrated in Terry Pratchett-style word salad. It was interesting. I woke up briefly, and then in the second half of the night I was dreaming that Jack, Sarah, and I were exploring Washington, D.C., which was just a set of hilly suburbs that looked a lot like the town I grew up in but with the occasional marble edifice thrown in randomly. I suspect budget cuts.

PLANS FOR TODAY

Got an Other Tales to deliver. Other than that I'm just going to see how much I can deliver. I mean, I got 4,000 words yesterday after what seems like a week of not breaking out of the three thousands. I think I'm going to start tagging my end of day posts with the word count, rounded down to the nearest 500, just so I can better track that.
