Feb. 16th, 2012 10:39 amTHE DAILY REPORT
Today's going to have a slightly different focus. Instead of "write, write, write", the goal for today is "revise, revise, revise"... I'm still going to track the word count for today since the stories that need revising also need finishing or expanding, and because everything I edit tends to come out longer.
That, and I might start writing something new if the muse moves me in that direction. But the main thing I'm going to focus on is fixing and finishing the things I wrote yesterday.
STATE OF THE ME
Nothing to report here, really.
DREAMS FROM LAST NIGHT
Two separate ones. In the first one I was at my parents' place in Nebraska, only it was bigger and the lake it's on was bigger, too. The sun room that in real life looks out over the water jutted out over it in the dream, and had windows on three sides. We were having some kind of gathering (I think it was an extended family function, but all the other people who were there outside the immediate family were extras from central casting rather than actual relatives) and I kept seeing increasingly large splashes out in the water, quite near the house.
At first I thought that something was jumping out of the water and peeking in, but then I realized that the splashes were actually a great big face made out of water that was popping up, looking at us, and then ducking back down. Also the sky was turning weird colors. We closed the blinds and that seemed to put an end to the face popping up, presumably because it couldn't see us any more.
My sister went to go walk our parents' dog along the river road and I went with her, and we noticed the sky was going an odd orangish color and also turning dark very quickly. We hurried back to the house just before the outside went completely black, and the dog started barking and hissing (like a cat) at the darkness until we got the door closed. That's where the dream ended.
The second one was Star Wars, only the rebellion was based in a deep space station that was like a city floating in space and was somehow playing a game of cat and mouse with the death star. I think it was supposed to be cloaked. Luke and Leia were the only actual characters from the rebellion there... the people who lived on the station were more like refugees in the mold of the original Battlestar Galactica. Luke and Leia managed to get off the station (with their pet goats and leopards... the dream had some really random elements) right before the coordinates were revealed by a saboteur and it was destroyed by the death star.
Luke then went to meet with Darth Vader ostensibly to negotiate a surrender for the rebellion and his joining the dark side but after they'd hashed out the details he said, "Nah, just kidding. I'm going to destroy your battle station and smash your empire."
And that's about when I woke up.
PLANS FOR THE DAY
Like I said, I'm going to be revising and finishing up the stuff I wrote yesterday. This includes a chapter of Tales of MU to post.
