Yesterday was my first full day in Maryland, but it already feels like I've been back for a while. It also feels like I haven't been away for long. Things just slot into place here so quickly, and we pick up things where we left off. I think things are as close to "feels like I never left at all" as they can be, and the only reason they're not at that level is because it would be impossible to not be aware of the time I'm away from Jack.
Now, one part of my routine from previous visits I'm trying not to pick up is the disruption/interruption of my work habits, hence why I'm being extra scrupulous about posting my daily updates here.
State of the Me
So, my optimism about my insomnia being broken was in fact unwarranted. Or at least incorrect... I'm not sure that optimism is only warranted when it turns out to be right. My sleep last night fit the pattern of much of last week: fitful and fragmented. It seems like with my standard supplements, I can sleep for three or four hours without interruption, then I wake up and can only sleep for an hour or two at a time at most. I'm considering trying to re-dose when I inevitably wake up around 3 or 4 in the morning, especially since on a weekday in an apartment where people have to wake up and get ready for work rolling over and going back to sleep only works for so long.
Just to highlight the bright spot/progress, though: for the vast majority of my life, rolling over and going back to sleep just wouldn't have worked at all. I still can't "go to sleep" as a conscious exercise in unconsciousness, but my body and brain have been trained to fall asleep faster and more easily now.
Plans For Today
It's day two of the TOMU cycle, the find a beginning day, which means I need to get a good handle on the chapter or find an angle of approach that works. I didn't end up doing any writing yesterday, so today I have a minimum of 1,000 words of Tales of MU to write. Shouldn't be a problem. I'm also going to start the next newsletter today.
