We've had a bit of a heat wave here over the weekend, after a relatively mild start to early summer... even with that it never got up to the 90s, which was good. But this apartment is apparently where the laws of thermodynamics come to die. It heats up very quickly regardless of what's going on outside, and takes a long time to cool off. So yesterday was under 80 outside... it was in fact gray and rainy for a lot of the day... but it took all the way until this morning for the temperature to actually fall off in here.
Heat leaves me pretty drained, both physically and mentally, so between that and spending time at the hospital (just visiting) on the weekend the past several days haven't been terribly productive.
I did turn 32 on Sunday. Saturday was when we actually observed it and Sunday was kind of surreal and I had other things on my mind, so this is actually the first moment I've stopped and realized not just "I had a birthday" but "I'm a year older than the last time this happened. I am 32."
Last year I celebrated with Baskin Robbins. This year, it's Ani DiFranco. This is not the best recording of this video on YouTube, but it was apparently recorded on my birthday, five years ago.
Age is relative, of course, so it shouldn't be surprising that the only way I can get a handle on my age is in relative terms. I've come as far since I was sixteen as it took me to get there. It's been twelve years since I stepped out of the teens, which also means it's twenty years since I was twelve.
The State of the Me
Better since the heatwave broke. Had some really iffy sleep for a while.
Plans For Today
I'm going to finish up the newsletter that would have gone out this weekend. It seems like I'm managing one about every 8 to 10 days, which isn't bad, considering.
