The Daily Report
So, I've settled into a really effective work schedule/routine since I've been here in Maryland, with one deficiency: I hadn't really thought about how to fit my daily reports into it. Hence, the relative silence here. But that doesn't mean things haven't been going great all the same.
I have a new endeavor! As I mentioned in my last newsletter, I'm feeling the need to move on from past efforts and try new things. This one came about in a similar fashion to the original Tales of MU... a spur of the moment decision to try a completely new story on a completely new platform. In the previous case it was through the medium of Livejournal. In this case it's Tumblr. It was definitely a lightning striking moment. The name came to me, and then the basic concept spilled out from that, and I wrote the first several installments right there as I was sitting in the bathtub, and then by last night I had the entirety of the first arc in my head.
You can read the story thus far here, and see how the funding aspect will work here. I'm using a variation of the "Story Bank" idea I talked about doing for Tales of MU... it just seems sensible to try it on a smaller scale on a side project first. The bank covers not just money the story makes, but attention... new followers on Tumblr and posts that gain enough notes (from likes/reblogs) also add to the bank. The second link in this paragraph explains how this works.
I'm kind of expecting most of the updates to be "paid for" via new follows to begin with, but that'll help get the ball rolling and keep it rolling. I've also applied to have it added to Kindle Blogs (meaning Kindle users will be able to subscribe to it on their Kindles, as some people already do for Tales of MU).
This is an experimental project, like MU was when it first started out, so the exact details may change as we go, but so far, so good.
The State of the Me
We have a touch of insomnia in the household... not mine, but my sleep schedule is a little off because of it.
Plans For Today
I'm kind of on a writing tear, so I'm just going to let that happen.
