The Daily Report
Well, Tumblr continues to disappoint me as a medium for publication. They're continuing to make it harder for me to use it on my netbook in various ways (the last major interface update made it unconscionably slow on my baby) and I had a glitch on The One Called Wander that resulted in the deletion of one chapter, which is how I learned that Tumblr, unlike most blogging platforms, doesn't let you publish a post out of order. I did eventually figure out how to edit the publication date after posting, allowing me to replace the missing update, but it was still an eye-opening experience.
The other weakness of Tumblr is that it is, as some serious Tumblr bloggers who are looking to monetize their writing describe it, a "content trap". There's no built-in export feature, copying and pasting formatted text from a blog may result in odd results, as will external exporting solutions. Collecting a finished Wander story for sale is something that I'd essentially have to do "by hand"... of course, it would become less cumbersome if I stopped doing any last minute editing on Tumblr itself so that the text I have in my source doc is the final text.
I don't yet know what I'll do with it if I decide to move it off Tumblr, so for now my plan is to keep going with it there at least through the end of the first story.
The State of the Me
I had a sort of worrying dizzy spell last night when I laid down and rolled over and the world kept rolling around me. That's something that's never happened to me before. It was like when you spin around quickly and then stop and the sensation of spinning continues, except I had only turned 90 degrees in the first place and that not very quickly. I'm not one prone to motion sickness or dizziness, and this morning I'm happy to report that I can't provoke a similar reaction by trying, but I'm reporting it here in case it happens again.
Plans For Today
As often happens when I'm in Maryland, I've had a burst of mental activity on A Wilder World, so as soon as I've posted this I'm going to be making a post on the subject.
