Jan. 23rd, 2014 09:46 amThe Daily Report
Yesterday was a pretty good day on the sponsor front: two new patrons, and some good ideas about sharpening my self-promotion skills. I'm also pretty satisfied with the chapter I posted, though due to having stressed about an unplanned outage in the afternoon I did briefly post the wrong draft. (If you saw it with a box where a word should have been, that was why.)
I've been trying to figure out the best way to integrate MU bonus stories into my current production schedule without throwing things off, and while I've thought of some systemic approaches, I think I'm going to start with "just do it"... when I see an opportunity, take it. I can make note of when it works well and when it doesn't, and maybe come up with a formal schedule based around that. Stand-alone stories in an established universe can be a lot easier to write when there's a solid base of inspiration behind them, so it might be that they need more brainstorming and less writing time than the main story chapters, on average.
I'm probably going to make a separate post about roleplaying game stuff later on today, when I eat lunch.
The State of the Me
Doing okay.
Plans For Today
Block 1 - More bookkeeping. Today I'm (finally) compiling a list of newsletter subscribers who are up-to-date and who are lapsed. I'll send renewal notices out today or tomorrow, depending on how long this takes. The task is complicated by the fact that not everybody's paid for their subscription using the same forms because of financial and/or geographical barriers. Better bookkeeping on the subscription list going forward is going to be a thing here. I'll know not only that each subscribers are current, but how they're current (yearly subscription starting when, Patreon, PayPal, etc.)
In between that stuff (i.e., when I get bored and/or frustrated), I'm going to be brainstorming on the next MU bonus story and giving the Omnibus minor polish.
Block 2 - Gaming stuff. It's what's on my mind today, no sense fighting it.
Block 3 - Day 3 of the MU writing cycle, the "write!" day.
