Well, our internet has still been doing the weird intermittency, though the cable company is no longer visibly working on the street. Today is Friday, which means I'm not the only person working from home. Since Sarah's in the downstairs office, she was able to report that the cable modem and router are both showing connectivity when sites are unreachable. This coupled with the fact that our cable company is not reporting any outages led me to suspect it might be a DNS problem. It turns out our router by default uses some sort of advanced DNS management thing not affiliated with the cable company.
I turned that off and changed it to a set of DNS servers I've never had problems with. It will be interesting to see how this improves things... I've actually had a bit of intermittent problems, but I just attributed that to being on a wireless connection that's unfortunately at about the exact opposite end of the house on a different floor.
Anyway, while I've been avoiding wrestling with the intenet because it was so frustrating when it appeared to just be a system outage, I'm making a point to spend the morning in the saddle today, both so I can directly gauge how things compare today to before I made the change and because spending a whole week avoiding working online in the morning is a good way to turn it into a habit.
The State of the Me
Doing okay. At some point around my trip to Florida, I ran out of some of my key braining supplements and I just kind of powered through on caffeine. I've rectified that as of yesterday, and it's really a case of not knowing what I've been missing until it's back.
Plans For Today
...kind of up in the air, or out on the web. Playing it by ear.
