I'll confess, the entire reason I wrote the preceding post was so that I could say "straight from the Norse's mouth." But I'm glad that I did... even more so now that more details are emerging and I seem all insightful and prescient and stuff:

"Some people say — and I understand it — 'Isn't it premature? Too early?' Well, I'd say then that it could be too late to respond three years from now," Thorbjoern Jagland, chairman of the Norwegian Nobel Committee, told the AP. "It is now that we have the opportunity to respond — all of us."

Pretty much what I thought.

I just saw the note about not reading LJ notifications. What's the best way to reach you? I wanted to ask you about the MU degrees.

Well, commenting on a recent LJ post is a good way since I watch them. Did you still not get yours? It should have been in the mail... let's see, it was the end of July that I sent them out.

No- I know you've had a lot on your plate, so I didn't want to bitch, but I never did get it.
I left you a DM here last time you mentioned them, but I wasn't looking to dun you on a public space, you know? I figure as long as you know, you'll get it to me when you can.

BTW- loving the updates- goood stuff. I'm curious, I already have a sponsorship going, would a straight donation to be applied to the bonus totals be appropriate? It can't be much, 'cause my rent went up, but I'd like to add to the drive (Aidan <3)

I'll have to take a look and see if I have copies of the certificate templates with my desktop dead... I'm having a sinking feeling that I didn't think to transfer them to my flash drive. I always forget something. If not... well, there's other less essential stuff on there I want to get pulled off of it anyway, so it'll just be a matter of me being able to print up a fresh copy tomorrow or later in the week.

Anyway, I'd be very grateful for any additional support you throw my way, as long as you can actually afford it.

I think I'm just perennially disappointed that Vandana Shiva didn't get it because I want her to because she's awesome.

Personally I was disappointed he won. Sure Obama talks a good game and the things he has said are exactly the same ideals that the Nobel committee are supposed to be supporting (which is a good point by the way, I hadn't seen that before); But Obama Hasn't really DONE anything yet. This is especially disappointing given his comments last week on GLBT rights, where he reitterated his support for these rights, especially gays in the military; But he talked about this in his campaign and when he had a chance to act a few months ago with the militaries "Don't ask don't tell" policy he did nothing, instead trading that opportunity for political capital to spend on other projects. It just feels like the same old shit where some politician makes endless compromises in order to maintain power and nothing ever really gets done.
Maybe I'm just bitter and maybe I'm wrong but it's a little frustrating to see politicing get rewarded before actual accomplishment.
