The Daily Report

Work day number two back in Omaha.

I've been having some problems getting HabitRPG to load since yesterday morning, which is... frustrating. The problem with being reliant on tools is that you become reliant on tools. Today it worked long enough for me to create a to-do list and now I can't get back in to access it. Psychologically, that's like a zillion times worse than not being able to get in to begin with.

I've been hashing out the details of the trip for my move... it seems like the first weekend of October is going to work out better than mid-September, so I'm going to have to update a few delivery estimates for the fundraiser. On the plus side, this means the weeks I'm directly prepping for the move are likely to be that much cooler.

Also, tonight after work I'm going to be going out to a coffee shop with my netbook and working on A Wilder World. The day before I left Maryland I had a conversation with someone about the combat system, and the process of explaining it out loud both helped me figure out how to explain it and some ways in which the confusing/complicated bits could be made much simpler. The need to get the revised combat system firmed up has been the number one hold-up with putting up the updated Basic Character Guide, since any combat-affecting abilities have to be made to fit the new rules.

The State of the Me

Slept enough, though not necessarily deeply.

Plans For Today

Today is mostly going to be devoted to opening up stuff, seeing where I am with it, and getting on with it. Stuff on my docket includes the Tales of MU book 2 e-book, The One Called Wander, my short story "Power Failure" and my novella By Half Measures. I also have a couple of reader emails that came in over the weekend, when I was busy/traveling/unconscious.

...my short story "Those Who Fail To Learn" sold like twenty copies on Saturday, seemingly out of nowhere. It makes me wonder if it received a favorable notice somewhere... if so, I'd love to know who's been recommending it. I don't think I've ever had a one-day spike like that even when I get out and push.
